Moving in to The Whimsy Dome - The first week

If you missed out on the details that lead us to this point, go ahead and read our previous blog all about the buying process! For those of you that don't know, I'm a total Google nerd. When we bought the house, the GPS would only bring you to the road and you'd have to follow the fire numbers until you got to our address. Being the Google gal that I am, I took the liberty of creating a custom location for our house and thus, The Whimsy Dome was born. Using Google maps, search for "The Whimsy Dome" and you will find us! I called the tree from my last house, the whimsy tree, so it was only fitting that my forever home be called The Whimsy Dome.

Before we did anything inside the house, we took a walk around the property together to admire all that was ours.

I've never seen as many varieties of mushrooms in one place before! Everywhere I looked I saw a new mushroom! The garden was filled with all sorts of beautiful flowers! Sean and I had been dreaming about this moment for almost 4 months already. It was finally ours. Fairy tale ending...

...More like the beginning of a to-do list that will never end.

That first trip to Home Depot was the most painful(financially)! And there were many more that followed! Here's a peek of what our to-do lists looked like in the first week at the Whimsy Dome. There was LOTS of yard work and LOTS of unpacking. I would wake up early before work and unpack a few boxes. I would take lunch and unpack some more and stay up late into the night trying to get the house FULLY ready by Friday after work so that I could host my Grandpa's 89th birthday party at our new home. Everyone said having a party the same week we moved in would be a bad idea, but I wanted to do it anyway. I wanted to be packed and settled as soon as humanly possible. I will never forget how I felt when I took this photo.

I'll always remember how I felt taking this photo.

I took this photo on Thursday night. The house was FINALLY unpacked, I was on pace to have the party on Friday, but I was so UNHAPPY. I remember laying on the couch looking up at this beautiful ceiling that I'd been dreaming about for months and crying so hard because I was too tired to care. I couldn't even enjoy being in the home because I was so exhausted. Here's my journal entry from that day:

"Circumstances mean nothing when you don't have energy!

I have everything I've ever wanted all around me and I can't help but feel so whiny and run down and tired .... I am exhausted. "

I set an unrealistic deadline for myself, but somehow I pulled it off. It may have caused a mini breakdown in the process, but I made it happen! Sean and I were able to enjoy hosting a dozen or so of my closest family up to the house to celebrate my Grandpas 89th birthday and the buying of our house. We had a lovely meal that I cooked for everyone on my blackstone! The first of many more!
